“Powerhitter® Math was a hit, once again. I had the perfect vehicle tool to really jazz up a rather ordinary multiplication/division unit. I pulled out my Power Hitter® kit and the fun began. My students were thrilled. They solved division baseball math problems; figured out batting averages; ordered scores from highest to lowest and vice versa; completed a photo analysis of a baseball card and created a story around the action depicted. Before long, we were into Baseball Language Arts. They defined baseball terms and then used them to write creative stories; they dissected and corrected baseball sentences and much much more. Please see the attached photos of a Power Hitter® class in action. THANK YOU!!!!”

Furthermore, your attention to detail is evident. Materials are sequenced and age appropriate and encompass all learning styles. Teachers are happy because this system provides built-in management techniques along with prepped materials. Overall, this program is highly effective."

The program really scored home runs on several fronts as it was able to accomplish the following:
•Pre-service teachers received much needed practical experience in the classroom with the support and mentorship of an on-site curriculum specialist
•Both boys and girls were afforded the opportunity to enjoy and learn about the game of baseball through theme-based teaching and recreational activities. Please know that our youngsters are still talking about their experiences and the district superintendent praised the program at a meeting of the Board of Education.

"Barbara is committed to her students and to the ideal that education can create a "level playing field". However, as a wise woman, she realizes that the playing field is often not level, so she uses her brains, wit, and charm to create change."

Dear Professor Veltri,
We just completed your Power Hitter math and language. I LOVED the Power Hitter math and language because we did a lot of really fun things such as: we made baseball poems, baseball tee-shirts, baseball sketches of models. We started the day by singing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”, we arranged our desks into a baseball diamond, we sent letters to the baseball teams asking if they can send us their ream decals, most of our teams replied but a couple teams such as : Miami did not. I sent my letter to the Los Angels Dodgers but they did not reply, we put batting averages into order, and thats all I can remember. Thank you for inventing Power Hitter Math and Language!!! I hope you have a very good time. Happy Holidays!
